Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 June 2026.

By using ffwhat.ai (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service. The Service is operated by ffwhat.ai ("we", "us"). Questions: webmaster@ffwhat.ai.

What the Service does

ffwhat.ai turns a plain-English request into a suggested FFmpeg command using an AI model. It is an aid for learning and convenience, not a substitute for understanding the command you run.

AI-generated commands — review before you run

The commands we produce are generated by an AI model and may be wrong, incomplete, or inappropriate for your files. Our automated safety checks reduce obvious risks but cannot guarantee a command is safe. FFmpeg can overwrite or delete files. You are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding any command before running it, and for keeping backups of your data. Run generated commands at your own risk.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may rate-limit, block, or deny any request at our discretion, and we return an identical "service unavailable" response to all such cases.

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any command it produces will be correct or safe.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the Service — including damage caused by running a generated command. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Privacy

Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In particular, your request text is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google) to generate commands.

Third-party software

FFmpeg is independent open-source software, not affiliated with or endorsed by ffwhat.ai. Your use of FFmpeg itself is governed by FFmpeg's own licenses and terms.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute will be the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
